The State of Ohio, under the Ohio School Facilities Commission, is operating a $2-million-per-day, statewide school construction and renovation project that will ultimately consume billions of dollars in taxpayer money over 12 years.
In order to place the best interests of Ohio’s children and its communities above everything else, local school districts must enact a Responsible Contractor Policy before construction contracts are awarded to bidders. Having a policy in place before the bidding starts will keep a district’s children, its community and its investments safe and secure for generations to come.
What policies does YOUR school district have in place
to ensure the construction of safe, quality facilities? |
A Responsible Contractor Policy sets the high standards that are vital for the proper construction and renovation of schools.
A Responsible Contractor Policy also protects a community’s investment by ensuring schools are built right the first time – saving tax dollars in the long run. Having a policy in place keeps costs down during the project and helps stop wasteful spending later. The Ohio School Facilities Commission is overseeing one of the most expensive school construction undertakings in state history. It is being paid for through state taxes, the tobacco settlement and local taxes. A Responsible Contractor Policy works to make sure that money is well-spent. |
